Most coal stoves are designed to burn Anthracite coal, also known as "hard coal". Anthracite coal is valuable for a several reasons, a few of which are listed below.
The size of the coal needed is listed on the instructions for your stove. Proper maintenance and cleaning is required for proper and efficient stove operation. Coal contains about 12% ash content, which must be removed from the stove periodically. Coal suppliers wash the coal multiple times to eliminate the dirt buildup and amount of ash.
